The
anniversary of the Corpus Domini of Campobasso is characterised
by the Sagra dei Misteri. These are metal structures devised in
1748 by Paolo Saverio Di Zinno and called, in a Brunellesco-type
language, ingegni.
These “machines” are manned by people who
portray “living scenes” from the old and new testaments. The
particular shape of the "machines" and the costumes of the
"actors" aim to give the impression that the characters are
really floating in the air.
