Paolo
Gamba was still young when he painted the lunettes in the refectory of
the Convent of the Cappuccini at Sant'Elia a Pianisi (CB)
(The Last Supper and The Annunciation). In the
decoration of the cupola of the Church of San Francesco at Larino
(1747) with the Virgin in glory his style already
begins to denote a greater degree of maturity.

At
Montorio nei Frentani, on the other hand, Paolo Gamba left four
canvases in the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, in 1750: the
Madonnas of Mount Carmel and of the Rosary, the Our Lady of Sorrows and
the Immaculate Conception. On several occasions he worked in the town of
his birth, Ripabottoni: the pictures of the Blessed Virgin, the
Our Lady of the Assumption, the Annunciation and the four frescoed
medallions depicting Stories of the Virgin in the Church of
Santa Maria della Concezione; paintings of San Rocco (1755) and the
Madonna of Mount Carmel, and frescos of the Allegories of the Virtues
and of the Prophets and in the medallions, in the Church of
Our Lady of the Assumption.

In
the parish Church of San Martino at Campodipietra, he
painted in 1774, the Immaculate Conception and the medallions with the
Disciples. At Fossalto, on the other hand (Church of Santa
Maria Assunta) he signed a canvas in 1758, with the Sacrifice of
Melchisedec and would go back there in 1774 for the Sacrifice of
Isaac and the Transportation of the Holy Arc. Gamba's last
works are the pictures of the Madonna of Mount Carmel and of the Nativity
of the Virgin in the Church of Sant'Antonio (1779) at Matrice.
Previously (1771), at Agnone, he had frescoed the Church
of San Francesco with the Allegories of the Virtues, The
Death of San Francesco and The Fall of the Angels.
